JANESVILLE--- Richard H. Levihn, age 85, of Janesville, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 4, 1928, the son of Carl and Hilda (Hartwig) Levihn. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and attended Carthage College. Richard served in the Korean War in the Army from 1950 to 1953. He later married Jacqueline Y. Coates on January 15, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI. Richard was employed by JATCO for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was a former member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Edgerton, were he was a president of the congregation and also an usher, and was a current member of the St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter and followed the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; a daughter, Kari (Tim) Gillitzer of Janesville; 3 grandchildren: Karli (Merrill Paynter) Lloyd, Austin Lloyd, Cole Gillitzer; and a great grandchild, Kara Paynter; 3 brothers: Ed (Nancy) Levihn of Austin, TX, Henry (Bev) Levihn of St. Germain, WI and Naples, FL, Arnold Levihn of Louisville, CO; close family friends: Dan and Vickie Lloyd, Kyle Hannaford, Alyssa Johnson and her 2 children, Landon and Beckham. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: William, and John Levihn.
Private Family Services will be held at a later date at ST. PAUL'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY is assisting the family with the arrangements.
