Rebel J. Powers, age 59, passed away at his home on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born April 2, 1954 to the late Harold and Evelyn (Householder) Powers. Rebel proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was proud of his military heritage. He took great pride in Civil War Re-enactments and firearms. Rebel loved the thrill of the hunt and always looked forward to deer hunting season. He enjoyed fishing on the Fox River, and holds a state record for largest catfish. Most of all he loved his family and his wife and soulmate Diane M. Larson, whom he married December 19, 1989.

He is survived by his wife Diane; 5 children, Alicia (Peter) Powers, Rosalie (Travis) Hale, Peter Carpenter, Frank Carpenter, and Michelle Carpenter; 13 grandchildren, Samara, Anthony, Savanna, Hailey, Dallas, Kayla, Megan, Bree, Isaac, Lillian, Zana, Tyler and Iannan; one great granddaughter Lainey; siblings, Kay (Jim), Pat, Roger, and Dean. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joe Powers and a granddaughter Lissa Powers.

A celebration of Rebels Life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 5:30pm at the Prairie du Sac Town Hall S. 9903 Hwy 12, Prairie du Sac. Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A luncheon will follow.

  • PHOTOS: Viewers drop off sensitive documents for Shredfest

    The WISC-TV studio parking lot was busy with hundreds of viewers bringing their sensitive documents to be destroyed as part of Shredfest with the Better Business Bureau Saturday morning.

    A combined 1,295 cars dropped off bags of papers at WISC-TV on Raymond Road and SVA Certified Public Accountants firm on John Q. Hammons Drive.

    News 3 and Better Business Bureau team members unloaded bags of documents from viewers' cars and Pellitteri Waste Systems' Data Destruction team put the papers into the shredding trucks.
