Polly Elizabeth Hefko (b. May 1, 1986) left this earth on April 30, 2013, one day before her 27th birthday. She left us far too soon. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A truly unique person, anyone who met her could never forget her. She wore her heart on her sleeve, empathizing intensely with those around her, and in the end, could not find a way to cope with all the pain she absorbed.

She was a talented ceramic artist, painter, photographer and model who made the world more beautiful every day by her presence. Striking in appearance and style, she exuded warmth and vibrancy. Polly's artistic philosophy PIE, embraced positivity - her pottery was made with "positive inner energy." She was a determined, thorough researcher and a perfectionist in the creation of her work. Japan and its culture was a source of enjoyment and inspiration for her. During her life, she attained an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and pursued additional studies in pottery and photography at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin.

Polly was the crowning jewel of our family, a perfect pearl (her favorite gem). She added luster to our lives and will be so deeply missed!

She is survived by her loving father and mother, Charles Deming and Roseanne Hefko, her stepfather Tom Hefko, her siblings Phoebe Hefko (Joe Martin), Emily Hefko (Mark Packard), Ted (Nikki) Hefko, Jasper Hefko (Jacquie Skopinski) and Dinah Hefko, her nieces Stormy, Aletha, Juniper, and Eliza, her paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Deming of Racine, and many adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Martha Deming, Peter Deming, Kate Deming, Patricia Stuhr (Tony Scott), Judith Lee, Cassandra Writz, Jennifer Trueman, John G. Bloczynski, Mary Bloczynski, Linda Mau, Michelle Mau, Cynthia Bloczynski (Scott Pittsley), Ian Bloczynski (Jessica), Jane Wroblewski, Robert Bloczynski, Mary Smith, Riley Smith, and Timothy Oyen.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents John and Margaret Bloczynski of Marshfield, and her paternal grandfather Richard Deming of Racine. Her friends are far are too numerous to mention all of them by name.

There will be a memorial held Monday May 6, from 2:30 – 4:30 pm at The Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made payable to Roseanne Hefko in care of Ryan Funeral Home. All donations will go towards a scholarship fund for Madison East High School students who wish to pursue college studies in fine arts.
