Mary Elaine Lathrop

Mary Elaine Lathrop of Verona died at Badger Prairie Health Center on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.

She was born in Dodgeville on April 13, 1942, the daughter of Clement and Madeline (Boylen) Brunker. She was married to Kenneth W. Lathrop. She greatly enjoyed crafts and playing (and winning prizes) at bingo while living at Badger Prairie.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Sue (Dean) Van Galen, granddaughter, Ashley, and 12 nieces and nephews: Connie (Mark) Ruppert of Hudson, Linda (Tom) Bremmer of Waunakee, Patricia Wasley (fiancé Tom Dearborn) of West Salem, Mary Kay (Greg) Sullivan of Mineral Point, Mark (Gloria) Yager of Mineral Point, Diane Yager of Seneca, Corine (Scott) Carey of Dodgeville, Janet (Kip) Kalscheur of Mount Horeb, Michael (Sherri) Yager of Hollandale, Karen (Dan) Durni of Mineral Point, Paul Yager (Janalyn) of Mineral Point and Greg Yager (fiancé Tammy Fochs-Steber) of Saumico, many grand-nieces and nephews and many cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, brother Lavern and sister Donna Yager.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Badger Prairie, Including Dr. Watts, who helped her greatly during the ten years that she was in their care. A special thank you to Mary Murphy for her compassionate and committed care for the past 12+ years.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue in Madison, with a prayer service at 6:30. Burial will take place on Monday, July 28, 2014 at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS at 10:00 a.m.
