Mary Beth Shepherd

JANESVILLE--- Mary Beth Shepherd, age 58, of Janesville, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Rhinelander, WI, on Aug. 10, 1954, the daughter of James and Marcella (Kinnamon) Wakely and was a graduate of Rhinelander High School. Beth married Michael T. Shepherd on Oct. 21, 1972 in Rhinelander. Following a few years in California while Mike served in the Armed Forces, they moved to Janesville in 1983. She was an Instructional Aide for Adams Elementary School for over 18 years. Family was hugely important to Beth and it was what she lived for. She waited somewhat patiently to be a grandma. Caitlin gave her that joy. Beth loved her kids at Adams School and they loved her. She had a heart bigger than life and she shared it with anyone and everyone. She also enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, cooking and baking, music, and had a very unique sense of humor. She is and was so loved and will be so very missed.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; 2 children, Michael J. (Jenna) Shepherd and Alexandra Shepherd both of Janesville; a granddaughter, Caitlin who was the love of her life; step mother, Susan Wakely of Rhinelander; 3 brothers: Brian (Lynn) Wakely of Rhinelander, David (Candy) Wakely of Chattanooga, TN, and Steve Wakely of Rhinelander; 4 sisters: Monica (Doug) Conrad of Cape Coral, FL, Andrea (Scott) Egley of Wheat Ridge, CO, Becky (David) Koeferl of Muskego, and Kim (Mark) Haug of Portage; mother-in-law, Audrey Shepherd; and father-in-law, Jim Shepherd both of Rhinelander; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; and a brother, James Curtis Wakely.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville, with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY.

  • PHOTOS: Viewers drop off sensitive documents for Shredfest

    The WISC-TV studio parking lot was busy with hundreds of viewers bringing their sensitive documents to be destroyed as part of Shredfest with the Better Business Bureau Saturday morning.

    A combined 1,295 cars dropped off bags of papers at WISC-TV on Raymond Road and SVA Certified Public Accountants firm on John Q. Hammons Drive.

    News 3 and Better Business Bureau team members unloaded bags of documents from viewers' cars and Pellitteri Waste Systems' Data Destruction team put the papers into the shredding trucks.
