Margaret Ann Fossedal

Margaret Ann Fossedal, 77, of Richland Center, died Thursday, October 3, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born April 23, 1936, in Quitman, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd and Edwena Tinder. Margaret Ann graduated from Beloit High School in 1954. On December 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Elwy Nels Fossedal at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beloit. Margaret Ann attended the Rockford Business School. She ran computers at Fairbanks Morris in Beloit and was the first woman to be asked to attend IBM to learn computers. Margaret Ann enjoyed reading, sewing, and writing poetry.

Margaret Ann is survived by her husband: Elwy Nels Fossedal, who resigned from Lions Club International, because they would not allow the worship of Jesus Christ, so they could be accepted by Islamic Nations. He was instrumental in diagnosing AIDS; Lyme Disease; Bacteroides Fragilis in Intra-abdominal Sepsis; working in Celiac Sprue to diagnose Gluten as the culprit of the 300 symptoms a Celiac gets when they ingest wheat. A gluten free diet can treat or prevent those symptoms.

Daughter: Leslie Ann (Danny George) Burheun; Sister-in-law: Bonnie Mae Bikkeness; Sons: Grantlund Nels (Debrah) Fossedal, Steven Nels Fossedal; Grandchildren: Taylor Nels Fossedal, Kyle Nels Fossedal, Jesse Nels Fossedal, Aarron Nels Fossedal; Tinders: Odis and Nancy Tinder; Trent, JoAnn, Claire, Alden, Olivia Tinder; Russell and Paulette Tinder; Julie and Eddie Cash; Sylvia and Gregory Tinder; Godson: Gregory Fossedal; Others: Desiree’, Kirk, Kassie, Kaleb Craig; Jason, Jenny Alecia, Aiden, Anna Faith Stebbins; John, Sue, and Katie Benishek; Heavin Chadwell; Robin, Steve, Alex, and Joey Swadley; Friends: Christine and Al Marshall; Joy Eriksen; Ann Eriksen, Ree Eriksen and Paul Wright; Kim Eriksen, and Dr. Sinnett.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. The family requests memorials in Margaret Ann’s name be directed to GRACE or the Richland County Veteran Memorial. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.

    The free BBB Shredfest event Saturday offered anyone with documents containing personal information to shred up to three bags. Destroying documents is one way to protect one's identity and thwart fraudsters.

    More than 1,600 cars stopped by two Madison locations from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, and 27 tons of documents were shredded, a Better Business Bureau representative said. The sites were at SVA Certified Public Accountants, 1221 John Q Hammons Dr. and Warner Park, 2930 N. Sherman Ave.

    PHOTOS: Thousands take part in 34th annual CrazyLegs 2016

    The 34th annual CrazyLegs Classic 8K Run and 2-mile Walk Saturday raised money for UW Athletics. As of Friday night, 13,000 people had signed up to participate, and organizers expected more to register Saturday morning before the race begins in waves at 11 a.m.

    WINNERS: Pat Jenkins, 24, of Cambridge, is the top finisher in the men's category. UW law student Jessa Hackman, 24, of Madison, is the top female finisher.
