Kathryn Jean Leake

MONONA/OREGON-Kathryn Jean Leake, age 86, of Oregon, formerly of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Sienna Meadows.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1926, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Lloyd and Jeannette (Wicks) Reddell.

She graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1943. Kathryn married Victor Leake on July 12, 1947, in Madison. Kathryn was the office manager of the William F. Vilas Trust Estate for 15 years and a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Madison and Actors Guild (due to her part in a television commercial for the Wisconsin Lottery). Kathryn enjoyed playing bingo and other games of chance. She also loved traveling, especially to Badger sporting events and spending time with family.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Sandra (Gary) Shackelford of Oregon, Thomas (Maggie) Leake of Long Beach, Calif., and Tracey (Fred) Kaltenberg of Sun Prairie; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Fred) Clark, Sara (Clint Cockroft) Cavanaugh, Matthew (fiancé, Lauren) Kaltenberg, and Michael Kaltenberg; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and River, who will miss their “Big Mama” very much; a sister-in-law, Joyce (John) Skelly; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 2010; her parents; stepmother, Hazel Cretney Reddell; a sister Lucille (James) McNulty.

Private family services and burial in Dodgeville will be held at a later date.
