MADISON-Joan Alice Baxter, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on May 11, 1934, in the Town of Burke, the daughter of John and Alma (Anderson) Landsness.

Joan was married to Eugene “Gene” Baxter in June of 1952. She enjoyed going to George Jones Concerts. Most of all, Joan loved to make cookies for her family and attend garage sales. She is survived by her children, Diane (Bryan) Clapper, Shirley (Mark) Carney, Cindy (John) Kuhn, and Gene (Donna) Baxter; grandchildren, Dawn, Heather, Mark, Carrie, Kurt, and Kyle; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Veith; and her bird, George. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; son-in-law, Ronald Zimmerman; her parents; brothers, Tom and John Landsness; and sister, Marion Klock. As per her wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
