Jeanette C. Karsten

MADISON -Jeanette C. Karsten, 90, passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born on June 25, 1923, in Monroe, the daughter of Chris and Carrie (Johnson) Gilbertson.

On Dec. 12, 1940, Jeanette married Roger Karsten. He preceded her in death in 1978. Jeanette was a stay at home mother and worked with her cousin, Florence, on Reds Lunch Bus providing lunch to area businesses. She was active in the Women of the Moose Lodge and Meadow Grove Apartments where she had lead many groups. Jeanette’s family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the love of her life.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Roberta Fry, Roger (Karen), Becky Ritter and Randy Karsten; grandchildren, Brian Karsten, Laura Dobrzynski, Paula Schubring, Kris Karsten, Arick Fry, Roxanne Karsten, and Christopher Karsten; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Tuschel, Ruth Arnold and Clarice Krause; and two brothers, Don Gilbertson and Neil Gilbertson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mitz; two brothers, Al and Art; and two son-in-laws, LaVerne Fry and Paul Ritter.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
