Gail Jean (Dobie) Johnson

MADISON-Gail Jean (Dobie) Johnson, age 58, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in Madison, the daughter of Virgil and Jennie (Moore) Dobie.

She married William C. Johnson on April 25, 1975 in Madison. Gail graduated from Madison East High School in 1973. She started working for the State of Wisconsin in 1974, she also worked for UW-Whitewater Admissions, and for the UW-Madison Marching Band starting in 1987 until she retired in 2011. Gail’s passions were the band staff, reading books, and her family.

She is survived by her son, Jacob (Ashley Mueller) Johnson of Baraboo; her mother, Jennie of Columbus; brother, Jackson (Rose) Dobie of Beaver Dam; niece, Carrie (Matt) Puczko of St. Paul, Minn.; and nephews, Chad Dobie and Jacob Dobie. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil; and a brother Richard Dobie.

Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at Noon on Friday, April 4, 2014. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens at 1 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
