MIDDLETON-Our fun-loving and good-natured Eugene “Spotty” Miller, age 76, left this world peacefully, at home, on June 24, 2014, after a four-star battle with cancer. He was born November 6, 1937, the son of Verne Miller and Florence Stormer, grew up in Middleton’s (Wisc.) Pheasant Branch neighborhood, and joined the U.S. Marine at a young age, serving our nation proudly for four years.

Eugene married the love of his life, Annette Louise Phelps, on October 21, 1967. They especially enjoyed road trips out west, visiting casinos, and bonfires out at “the farm.” He loved hunting in the north woods, camping on the Wisconsin River, and was a friend to many, including his fellow OTR drivers, driving big rigs for many years before specializing as a diesel-engine mechanic.

He is survived by Annette and their three sons, Brian, Aaron (Danielle), and Duane (Becky) and grandsons Jerod and Matthew. Eugene is further survived by his dear sister MaryJo Matz, brother Jim, sister Janet (and brother-in-law John) Topp, and by beloved nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Tom, John, and Charles (Skip), by sister-in-law Jeanette (Jim), brother-in-law Don Matz, by nieces/nephew Cindy, Sharon and Tom Matz, and by nephew Richard (Ricky) Topp.

We are truly grateful for Madison’s VA Hospital, and for the devoted and caring team from Agrace who helped in countless ways.

A private family gathering will honor Eugene this summer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be suggested to the family.

Hope the Miller High Life is good and cold where you are, dear husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
