Edna Kuehni

MADISON-Edna G. Kuehni, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Heritage in Monona.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1918, in Middleton, the daughter of Jasper and Grace (Bryan) Keller. Edna was united in marriage to Adolph “Whitey” on June 3, 1933. She worked as a nurse at Mendota State Hospital in the 1930’s and later at Jackson Clinic in the Physical Therapy Department. Edna enjoyed golfing, getting a hole in one and playing cribbage and euchre. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and ladies aide and was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. Edna was a great mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Pete) Gilbertson, Janet (Dick) Hustad and Barbara ( Vito) Gervasi; grandchildren, Beth Mayhew, Kari Meyers, Lori Grill, Andy Gilbertson, Sheri Ebert, Grace Sunderlage and Vito Gervasi; great-grandchildren, Melissa Campbell, Paul Meyers, Mia Biddick, Jordan Mayhew, Jaime Hill, Jon Sunderlage, Ryan Ebert, Carly Grill, Jena Sunderlage, Cami Ebert, Ben Grill, Jason Sunderlage, Emily Gervasi and Alex Gervasi; great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Lee, Hayden Campbell, Ian Meyers, Darren Williams, Zoe Meyers, Grayson Biddick, Carter Campbell and Blake Hill; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Edna was preceded in death be her parents; husband, Adolph “Whitey” Kuehni; grandson, Dan Hustad; sisters, Evelyn and Helen; and brothers, Allen and Merle.

Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee Street, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, with the Rev. Mark Bartels presiding. Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to Agrace HospiceCare.

    The Henry Vilas Zoo will light up nights this holiday season with its new Zoo Lights event. The Zoo Lights exhibit will offer zoo-goers a stroll down Candy Cane Lane with festive lights and sounds. Zoo organizers announced the Zoo Light exhibit Wednesday and said thousands of lights will transform the zoo into a winter wonderland Nov. 25-Jan. 1.

    Admission is $7 and Zoo Lights will run Thursdays through Sundays beginning at 5:30 p.m.
