Donald J Severa

Donald J. Severa, age 65, of Janesville, died on Friday, November 29, 2013, at Beloit Health and Rehab. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 3, 1947, the son of Louis and Millie (Schima) Severa. He attended Catholic Schools growing up in Chicago and also had a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts emphasis on History from Illinois Normal.

Don served his country in the U.S. Army as a Supply Sergeant during the Vietnam War and was also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, Janesville unit. He worked for UW Whitewater as a custodian for many years and also for LaChance Cleaning Services until his retirement in 2008 due to health problems. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Don enjoyed watching old movies and TV shows, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper (especially at the Oasis), crossword puzzles and Trivia. He lived a simple life and was very proud of his granddaughter, Emily.

He is survived by his daughter, Donea (Ervin Hartley) Severa of Janesville; granddaughter, Emily and another grandbaby due in February; ex-wife, Gina (Jeff) Hartmann of Janesville; 4 siblings: Lois, Helen, Joe and Lou; and Don's best friend, Roger Beck of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Kelly Ann Severa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville with Fr. Donn Heiar officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A Private Burial will take place at Richmond Cemetery. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville is assisting the family.
