Deines (Denny) Brehm

Deines (Denny) Brehm, age 81, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013.

He was born on December 11, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Carl and Alice Brehm. Denny was united in marriage to Lori Ellen Hollfelder on December 11, 1979, in Madison.

He served in the Korean War after graduating from Wauwatosa High School in June 1950. Denny received the Purple Heart, National Defense service medal, Korean Service, United Nations, Korean War service metal, a special 50th anniversary award, and other metals while serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.

After returning from the war, Denny returned to school and studied industrial and advertising design at Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. He worked in the field for studios, ad agencies, and printers until 1971, when he joined the State of Wis. as an artist. Denny spent 20 years and retired from state service in 1991 as a printing technician, his last position being the printing manager for the Department of Administration. He worked in security at the Dane County Regional Airport for the next eight years, and fully retired in 2000.

Denny enjoyed his family, home, working in his yard, and building Heirloom doll houses.

He is survived by his wife, Lori, of Madison; daughter, Jennifer (Adam) Rygg; granddaughter, Abigai; grandson, Mason; all of Port Washington; brother, Thomas (Maureen) Brehm of Dundee, Scotland; and nephews, Stephen (Marion) Brehm and Christopher (Vicky) Brehm, both from England.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at Lake Edge Lutheran Church, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, with the Rev. Stephen Marsh presiding.

Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.

Entombment will be in Highland Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be given to the Lake Edge Lutheran Church Altar Guild.
