Charles L. Schepp

MADISON/ MONONA – Charles L. Schepp died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 87, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, after a brief bout with cancer.

He was born in Wausau on July 9, 1925. He married Matilda ‘Tooty’ E. Frey on June 28, 1947 in Roxbury. Charles was a proud man to have served in the Naval Air Corps during World War II stationed out of Hawaii. He retired from Nagel Hart/Fabco after forty-three years, serving as parts manager. He also volunteered faithfully at St. Mary’s auxiliary for many years. Charles was most proud of his large family of ten children, twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He enjoyed family and friends, gardening, fishing, working at his computer, playing euchre, family gatherings and not to forget his ‘Bloody Mary’s’. Charles was a wonderful husband to Tooty for over sixty-five years and a faithful Catholic at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish. He loved teasing his grandkids, always ready for a good time and an all around good hearted soul. He will be greatly missed.

Charles is survived by his wife, Matilda; brother, Lorrin (Vernice); sons, Richard (Donna), Michael (Diane), Randy (Deb), Mark (Sally), Jeff (JoAnn) and Chuck (Cindy); daughters, Anne (Denny) Simon, Mary (Jay) Droster, Joan (Nathan) Gast, Katie (Brian) Bierman; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Schepp; brother, Duane Schepp; granddaughters, Emily Schepp and Pamela Schepp; father and mother-in-law, George and Anna Frey; and brothers-in-law, George Jr. and Ralph Frey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens with military rites being conducted. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, and at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Charles’ name to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Madison, 2802 Dairy Drive, Madison 53718. Charles’ family would like to thank everyone at Agrace HospiceCare that has helped for the care and compassion.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, and at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday.

Service:
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding.
