Barbara A. (Schindler) Berg, age 85, of Janesville/Blanchardville, died on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

She was born in Blanchardville, WI, on Sept. 20, 1927, the daughter of Oscar and Nora (Olson) Schindler. She attended Blanchardville public schools, and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1945. She attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and then graduated from the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis in 1950. She married Robert M. Berg on Sept. 6, 1952, in Blanchardville, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2013. She worked as a medical technician in Monroe and Janesville, until she began to raise a family in 1957. She was very active in volunteer activities, including Cub Scouts, Brownies, and hospital volunteer work at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. She enjoyed singing, early on with her sisters, and for many years with her church activities and Choral Union. She was a charter member of Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Janesville. She very much enjoyed life as a homemaker. Barbara will be remembered as always having a very cheerful disposition. She was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her many concert outings and breakfast gatherings with her lady friends, and especially enjoyed her annual north woods gathering with close friends.

Barbara is survived by 3 children: Eric (Susan) Berg of Madison, Susan (Tim) Lund of Bartonville, IL, and Janice (Scott) Watson of Surry, ME; 2 sisters, Mary Thompson of Bloomington, MN, and Nancy Berg of Janesville; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, John; grandson, Tyler; and nephew, Peter.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at TRINITY FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2727 Holiday Dr., Janesville, with Rev. Jon Benson officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. Memorials may be made to "The Heights Assisted Living Apartments." SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Janesville is assisting the family.

The family wishes to thank the staff of The Heights Assisted Living Apartments, in Evansville, for their kind and compassionate care of both Barbara and her husband Robert over the past year.

    Admission is $7 and Zoo Lights will run Thursdays through Sundays beginning at 5:30 p.m.
