Violet Rose Green

Violet Rose Green, age 97, of Galesville, Wisconsin and formerly of La Farge, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was born march 10, 1915 in Vernon County near Clinton Center, the daughter of Ernest and Susan (Spoher) Short. On September 18, 1935 she married William Carrol Green at the Melrose Little Glass Church. They farmed for many years near Sparta and La Farge, before moving in to La Farge in 1953. Violet and Carrol both worked at the Viroqua Nursing Home for many years. They were members of the United Methodist Church in La Farge. Violet loved gardening, flowers, fishing, travelling, reading, and feeding and watching her feathered friends. She moved to Galesville in 2008 to live with her son Larry.

Survivors include: two sons: Glenn (Patricia) of Fort Atkinson, WI, Larry (fiance’ Ardelle) of Galesville, daughter in law: Jean Green of La Crosse, 15 grandchildren: Darlene (Neil), Rosie (Allen), Karen (Floyd), Danny (Ginger), Rogie (Dana), Debbie (Gary), Kitty, Dennis (Hiedie), Douglas (Jackie), Brian (Tonya), Kathy (Mark), Chris (Bryan), Sandy (Mike), Penny (Rich), William, 41 great grandchildren, 30 great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild. Violet was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Susan Short, her husband William Carrol, three brothers: Norman, John and Glen; four sisters: twins Edith Hart and Ethel Abbott, Hazel Jacobson, Eva Joranger; three sons: Roger, Rawlin and an infant son LaVerne.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the LA FARGE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Reverend Karen Bankes will officiate and burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, December 8, from noon until service time at 2:00 PM. The Seland Huston Funeral Home of La Farge is serving the Green family.
