MADISON – Thomas Alfred Pigneguy, 86, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Capitol Lakes Health Center, surrounded by loved ones.

Thom was born August 13, 1926 in Covington, Ky., the son of Thomas McNess and Stella Bryan Pigneguy. He was married to Wilma Mattingly for 25 years.

Thom was a professional photographer and motion picture projectionist, and was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. He loved his work, especially at EPCOT in Walt Disney World, from where he retired. Thom was president of the Milwaukee Jazz Society in the 1960s. He adored the state of Wisconsin, and was a member of the Wisconsin Historical Society for more than 50 years. A proud Progressive, Thom contributed to causes like The Sierra Club, The Humane Society and the World Wildlife Fund. As a resident of Capitol Lakes, he was glad to have the opportunity to show movies for the residents there and to have his photography on display.

Thom is survived by his daughter, Teresa Bryan Peneguy of Madison; his son, Curtis Clyde Pigneguy (Angela Todd) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Teresa’s mother, Wilma Mattingly (Ray Nielsen) of Madison; grandson Christo River-Paprock of New Glarus; his cousin Peggy Adams of Cincinnati; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Jeanette; and his cousin Patricia Schramm.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the chapel at Capitol Lakes Retirement Community (use the Henry Street Café entrance at 110 Henry St.). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Agrace HospiceCare and the Wisconsin Historical Society. The family thanks the staffs at Agrace HospiceCare and Capitol Lakes Health Center, and the Rev. Guta Cvetkovic for their kindness and compassion.

“And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod / The high untrespassed sanctity of space / Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”
