Mark Steven Berghammer

Madison - Mark S. Berghammer, age 56 passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He was born on September 22, 1956, the son of Harold and Lidia (Testolin) Berghammer in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Mark was employed at Alkar-DEC in the parts department in Lodi, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his mother; Lidia Berghammer, a sister; Sheila Albin, a niece; Rita Drummond, a nephew, Greg Albin, two great nieces; Margaret Albin and Isabella Drummond, two great nephews; Louis and Issac Albin. He was also survived by many other loving family and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Harold C. Berghammer.

Private family services will be held at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made in Mark's memory to PorchLight Inc., 306 North Brooks Street, Madison, WI 53715.

    Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials showed off a better way to build and repair small bridges Thursday.

    The process involves building retaining walls on each side of the waterway. After filling in the area with gravel, precast tops are put in place. A normal bridge project would take 2 or 3 months, but the new process can cut that time down dramatically.

    MADISON, Wis. -- University of Wisconsin-Madison police hosted a statewide explosives training day for K-9 teams Thursday on campus.

    UWPD spokesman Marc Lovicott said Thursday's training involved multiple scenarios including large load explosive detection, dark room scenarios, plus more typical game-day situations that officers and their K-9 partner routinely encounter such as distractions, loud noises and an encounter with Bucky Badger.
