Marian E. Thorpe, 96, of Platteville, died on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Gray’s Nursing Home, Platteville.

As per the families’ request, there will be no formal services. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Marian was born on August 19, 1916 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Frisk) Getts. She was united in marriage to Roy O. Thorpe on June 5, 1937 in Rockford, IL. Marian was an avid reader.

She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (DuWayne) Stuelke of Platteville; Phyllis Honecker of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Laurel Honecker of Rockford, IL; Kathryn Honecker of Phoenix, AZ; Patricia Lynn Noel of Platteville; Vicki Lynn Stuelke of Platteville; Tracy Lynn Smith of Champlin, MN; Debroah Lynn Leinheiser of DePere, WI; Scott DuWayne Stuelke of Cary, NC; Steven Roy Stuelke of Mason, OH; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Mary Susan Klickman.
