John "Jack" Oliver Reigstad

DeForest: John Oliver “Jack” Reigstad, age 79 of DeForest, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 13, 2013 at Meriter Hospital, Madison. He was born April 7, 1933 in Madison, the son of Russell Oliver and Anita (Cutler) Reigstad. He was united in marriage to Patricia Esse at Christ Lutheran Church in DeForest on January 5, 1952, and together they raised three daughters. Jack worked at Forest Milk, for the Village of DeForest and farmed. He was proud to have been a volunteer fireman for DeForest for 47 1/2 years, serving as assistant chief for 17 years. He and Patricia enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. Jack loved getting together with family and always looked forward to the kids coming home. He was a deer hunter and loved to play cards.

Jack is survived by his wife, Patricia of DeForest three daughters, Laurie (Rolf) Christianson, Karen (Bernie) Theisen, Deanna (Stephen) Hubert; three brothers, Douglas (Delores) Reigstad, Jerry (Nancy) Reigstad and Rollie Reigstad; brother-in-law, Duane Esse; sister-in-law, Beverly Quartuccio; grandchildren, Chad (Shelly) Christianson, Brent Christianson, Kristina (Rick) Kopf, Dennis J. (Robin) Schwenn, Trisha Tourdot; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Malori Kopf, Trey, Blake and Zander Christianson; step-grandchildren, Danielle and Chris Thousand, Annette and Chad Trimble, Chris and Jessica Theisen, Stephanie Theisen; step great-grandchildren, Taylee, Tatum and Ty, Kendra and Aiden; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sanford, Neal and Kenneth Reigstad; sister-in-law, Jeannie Reigstad; great-nephew, Kyle Reigstad; and brother-in-law, Darrell Esse.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, 220 S. Main Street, DeForest, with Reverend Erica Becker officiating. Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery, DeForest. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, February 15 at Ryan Funeral Home, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, and again on Saturday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
