John C. Myhre

Sun Prairie-John C. Myhre, age 72, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at University Hospital. He was born April 23, 1940, to Harold and Anne (Young) Myhre. He was one of 5 siblings, James Richard, Gerald, and Janet. He was a sales rep for 40 years, first with Brunswick Corporation then independent with many companies selling furniture to furniture stores. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, DeForest, where he served several times on the church council and as its president twice. John loved basketball, Badger sports, the Packers, books, and classical music.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol, his daughter Tanya (Mike) Arnold, son Eric (Katie) Myhre, and 5 grandchildren; Joshua, Jacob, Makena, Joseph and Aaron. He is further survived by his brother Gerald (Sandy) Myhre, and sister Janet (Chris) Ogden, also brother-in-law William (Kathleen) Owen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, DeForest, with Pastor Jerry A. Olson and Pastor Erica Becker officiating. A visitation will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, DeForest, on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from 5pm to 8pm. A second visitation will take place on Thursday at the church from 9:30am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kidney Foundation, Red Cross, and Christ Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

  • PHOTOS: Viewers drop off sensitive documents for Shredfest

    The WISC-TV studio parking lot was busy with hundreds of viewers bringing their sensitive documents to be destroyed as part of Shredfest with the Better Business Bureau Saturday morning.

    A combined 1,295 cars dropped off bags of papers at WISC-TV on Raymond Road and SVA Certified Public Accountants firm on John Q. Hammons Drive.

    News 3 and Better Business Bureau team members unloaded bags of documents from viewers' cars and Pellitteri Waste Systems' Data Destruction team put the papers into the shredding trucks.
