Jeannette A. VanVonderen

MADISON -Jeannette A. VanVonderen, age 95, passed into the Loving hands of God on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. She was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Coleman, the daughter of Henry and Barbara (Hammes) VanVonderen. She was the youngest of five children. Jeannette was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a gentle woman with a big heart; generous, gracious, loving and full of spirit. She loved learning and educating, which was evidenced in her occupation working as a teacher and professor with young people in various high schools, St. Norbert’s College, MATC and the Madison UW-Extension. Jeannette loved and appreciated people, spending any time with her would raise your spirits. She was always active, from participating in volunteer church work, travelling with her sister, to arranging social gatherings to create community in the places she lived. Her deep gratitude for all her blessings and her sense of humor endeared her to many. Jeannette will be greatly missed, but our memories of her will always bring us joy. Jeannette is survived by her nephew, Stuart Baker of La Mesa, Calif., along with numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother.

In following Jeannette’s wishes, her body has been donated for educational purposes to the UW Medical School, Body Donor Services. A memorial service for Jeannette will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CHURCH CHAPEL, 401 S. Owen Dr.,Madison, on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be made at
