Janice Bauer

Janice M. Bauer, 74, of Richland Center died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Schmitt Woodland Hills after a 15 month battle with cancer. She was born September 9, 1938 in Richland Center the daughter of Gifford and Mary Louise (Robinson) Anderson. Janice graduated from Ithaca High School in 1956. On October 12, 1957 she was united in marriage to John J Bauer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center by Father Owen Mitchel. Jan started to work at John Kirkpatrick’s Inc, in Richland Center and after one year she joined her husband, Jack in Virginia. She then went to work for the US Army until her husband left the service and returned to Richland Center. Janice stated back to work at John Kirkpatrick’s and worked there until they closed. She then worked at the Richland County Highway Shop until she retired in 1997. After her retirement, she worked as an Avon Lady until her death. She acquired many friends in and around Richland Center. Janice was an animal lover especially her poodles.

Janice is survived by her husband John ‘Jack’ Bauer, three sisters and brother, June (Jerry) King of Milton, Joan (Avery) Ashmore of Fennimore, Linda (Donald) Flickinger of Billings, Montana, Stanley (Mary) Anderson of Richland Center, John’s brothers and sisters, Cletus (Donna) Bauer of Richland Center, Audrey (Herb) Pletzer of Richland Center, Tom Bauer of Lone Rock, Judy (Dallas) Johnson of Richland Center, John’s sister-in-law, Brenda (Bob) Bindl of Richland Center, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her father Gifford Anderson, mother Mary L. King, stepfather Lester King, sister Judy Amble, brother-in-laws, John Amble and Kenneth Bauer.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Monsignor Roger Scheckel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.   • PHOTOS: Viewers drop off sensitive documents for Shredfest

    The WISC-TV studio parking lot was busy with hundreds of viewers bringing their sensitive documents to be destroyed as part of Shredfest with the Better Business Bureau Saturday morning.

    A combined 1,295 cars dropped off bags of papers at WISC-TV on Raymond Road and SVA Certified Public Accountants firm on John Q. Hammons Drive.

    News 3 and Better Business Bureau team members unloaded bags of documents from viewers' cars and Pellitteri Waste Systems' Data Destruction team put the papers into the shredding trucks.
