CROSS PLAINS-Janet Griffin, age 65, of Cross Plains, passed away, surrounded by family on Monday, January 28, 2013 in Madison. She was born on January 10, 1948, in Madison, the daughter of Alex and Viola (Festge) Hering. Janet worked for Kwik Trip, Piggly Wiggly and Wal-Mart. She was a talented quilter, loved animals and working with flowers, but truly treasured most the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her children, Michelle (Scott) Hewitt of Portage and Steven (Brooke) Griffin of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Alex Frantz (Megan Babcock), Courtney Frantz (Patrick Maier), Wesly (Carissa) Frantz, Shea Frantz, Sawyer Frantz, Anna Hewitt, Emma Hewitt and Khloe Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Braelynn and Rylan Franz; four sisters, Shirley (Laurice) Coulson, LaVonne (Jerome) Boyer, twin sister, Jean (Eugene) Schumann and Adele King (Darwin) Mundt; and a sister-in-law, LaVonne (Jim)Everson . She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Harland, Carroll and Gail Hering, a nephew, Cory James King and a sister-in-law, Irene Ryan.

Memorial services will be held at ST. MARTINS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2427 Church Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 with the Reverend Rick Lund presiding. Burial to follow in Valley Home Cemetery, Cross Plains. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
