Jack (John) C. Kraft

COTTAGE GROVE-Jack (John) C. Kraft, age 84, passed away on Jan. 17, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 27, 1928, in Madison, the only child of John and Roxanna Kraft. Jack was a graduate of East High School in 1946. After high school, he was employed at the lumber yard in Cottage Grove until he left to serve his country in the Korean War. When he returned home, he became a plumber and continued this profession until his retirement in 1989. Jack married Lois Mae Hanson in 1965. He was a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove and a charter member of the Cottage Grove Lions Club. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Montello.

Jack is survived by his son, Kurt (Sonja) Kraft; daughter, Toni Straus; and grandchildren, Bo, Leeta, Logan, Luke, and Ben. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois.

Funeral services for Jack will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, with Pastor Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Agrace HospiceCare. On-line condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
