Gladys M. Zellmer

ARLINGTON/DEFOREST/WYOCENA-Gladys M. Zellmer, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Columbia County Health Care Center. She was born on July 8, 1914 in Arlington the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Paskey) Priem Jr. She married Floyd Zellmer on November 23, 1939, he preceded her in death in 2004. Gladys was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for more than 65 years. Gladys enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society and the Red Cross. She was also a member of the Arlington Prairie Drifters Snowmobile Club. Gladys enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for her grandchildren. You could always brighten her day with a bouquet of flowers. She also enjoyed collecting cups and saucers.

Gladys is survived by her children, Roger (Linda) Zellmer, Charlene (Mike) Winter and Joanne (David) Allen; two grandchildren, Mollie Allen and Justin Babcock; seven great grandchildren; sister, Adeline (Lawrence) Jahn; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd; her granddaughter Amanda Allen; brothers, Adolph (Ruth) Priem and Bud (Phyllis) Priem; sister, Violet (Howard) Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 12:00 noon at ST. PETERS LUTHERAN CHURCH 303 Park St. Arlington. With the Reverend Marion Hendrickson presiding. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Poynette. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at church. Memorials may be made to Columbia County Health Care (CCHCC) or St Peter’s Lutheran Church.

  • PHOTOS: 27 tons of documents destroyed during BBB Shredfest 2016

    The free BBB Shredfest event Saturday offered anyone with documents containing personal information to shred up to three bags. Destroying documents is one way to protect one's identity and thwart fraudsters.

    More than 1,600 cars stopped by two Madison locations from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, and 27 tons of documents were shredded, a Better Business Bureau representative said. The sites were at SVA Certified Public Accountants, 1221 John Q Hammons Dr. and Warner Park, 2930 N. Sherman Ave.

    PHOTOS: Thousands take part in 34th annual CrazyLegs 2016

    The 34th annual CrazyLegs Classic 8K Run and 2-mile Walk Saturday raised money for UW Athletics. As of Friday night, 13,000 people had signed up to participate, and organizers expected more to register Saturday morning before the race begins in waves at 11 a.m.

    WINNERS: Pat Jenkins, 24, of Cambridge, is the top finisher in the men's category. UW law student Jessa Hackman, 24, of Madison, is the top female finisher.
