MADISON-Gertrude Jerney Brunclik, age 92, died peacefully March 12, 2013 at home surrounded by family. Gert was born January 1, 1921 in Amery, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bruce and Alys Morrison. She married Allis (Bill) Jerney in 1941; they had four children. Bill was a career officer in the Army which meant they moved often. The lived at Ft. Polk, LA; Ft. Sill, OK; Cincinnatti, OH; Salzburg, Austria; Okinawa; and Ft. Devans, MA where Bill died in 1962. The family then moved to Madison, Wisconsin. Gert’s career was being an Army wife. She kept a beautiful home for her family in whatever type of housing was available; even a Quonset hut in Okinawa. Gert always was an active volunteer in Army post life. Gert cherished her family, both immediate and extended. Gert was devoted to her children, thrilled with her granddaughters, and was awestruck at the joys of great-grandparenthood. She remained close to her brothers and sisters and their families. In 1967 Gert married James Brunclik. She moved to Milwaukee and her family grew with the addition of two step-daughters. In Milwaukee Gert established a new home and was a hospital volunteer. Granddaughters came into Jim and Gert’s lives and they were rejuvenated. Nothing made them happier than time with these girls. When Jim retired, they moved back to Madison. Here they were close to grandchildren and the arrival of great-grandchildren. Gert never tired of being with them; she always said being around children kept her young. Even the neighborhood children called her Grandma Gert.

Gert is survived by her son, James (Angi) Jerney, her daughter Sally Jerney, stepdaughters Jane Brunclik and Sue (Barney) Brunclik and daughter-in-law Charlotte Jerney; her granddaughters Michelle (Christopher) Davis and Laura (Brian) Franzen Elmer, Jamie Domini and Jackie (Stephen) Rose; great-grandkids Jerney and Madison Davis, Zoey Franzen and Maxwell Elmer, Heron and Joe Rose; her sisters Charlotte Larson, Janet (John) Winn; sisters-in-law Lorraine Morrison, Maryann Morrison, and Courtney Nelson; brother-in-law Gene Pribnow; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Jerney and Jim Brunclik; her sons Bruce Jerney and Billy Jerney; her son-in-law, Ron Domini; her brothers David, Bruce (Pete) and Stuart Morrison; her sister Marietta Wilson Pribnow; brothers-in-law Loell Larson and Donald Wilson.
