Donald Weber

Donald Weber, age 81, of Viroqua, WI passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born April 27, 1931, to Gerald and Margaret (Keller) Weber in Wonewoc, WI. His family moved to the home farm on Dach Ridge in Viroqua when he was 1 ½ yrs old. He was united in marriage to Carol Mosser on May 24, 1952. Don’s life will be remembered for his love for his family, his friendships, and hard work. Don’s passions in life were his cows, pigs, farming, and spending time with family and friends.

In his free time he enjoyed playing Euchre, hunting, fishing, and going to the Eagle’s Club. His greatest tribute was the respect he gave and received from all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; his children: Danny (Tammy Burke) Weber of Viroqua, Diane Young of Eagle, CO, Scott (Cindy) Weber of Viroqua, Sandra (Gary Ostrem) Weber of Viroqua, and Karla (David) Novey of Byron, MN ; nine grandchildren: Lisa (Ben) Johnson, Tyler Fortney, Brooke Weber, Zachary Novey, Cole Weber, Justin Novey, Brock Weber, Brandon Novey, and William Young; two great-grandchildren: Alyson and Evan Johnson; two brothers: Robert (Joann) Weber of Sacramento, CA and Dale (Karen) Weber of West Salem, WI; and his ball playing buddy Maggie!

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Cliff Young.

We were blessed and fortunate to have such a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather in our lives.

He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Viroqua Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call on Monday after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.

The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.

The Zoo Lights exhibit will offer zoo-goers a stroll down Candy Cane Lane with festive lights and sounds. Zoo organizers announced the Zoo Light exhibit Wednesday and said thousands of lights will transform the zoo into a winter wonderland Nov. 25-Jan. 1.

    Admission is $7 and Zoo Lights will run Thursdays through Sundays beginning at 5:30 p.m.
