Donald P. Mueller, age 92 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Thursday, January 31, 2013 at his residence.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo, Wisconsin with Father Jay Poster celebrating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton on Monday from 4 to 7:30 P.M. and on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Donald was born November 14, 1920 in Lime Ridge, Wisconsin the son of Christian and Stella (Brier) Mueller. Following school he began his cheese making career until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in August of 1944. He was overseas and earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 bronze battle star, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award and the Phillipine Independence Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946. He returned home and together with his brothers, LaVerne and James, they purchased and operated Carr Valley Cheese until 1987. In October of 1950 he married Patricia Shields at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Germantown, Wisconsin. Following retirement he and wife, Pat would winter in Florida. Don’s passions in life were cheesemaking, bowling and being with his family. He was a man of simple pleasures and he loved cheese, sweets and chocolate.

Don is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Kenneth of Lake Delton and Thomas (Jenny) of Baraboo; daughters, Sharon of Lake Delton, Christine (Wayne) MacArdy of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, Laurie (Tim) Klemm of Rock Springs, Wisconsin and Teresa Rooney of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter, Kennedy Mueller; brothers, LaVerne, James and Francis; and a sister, Edna Mueller.
