Donald Layne Eithun

Madison-Donald “Don” L. Eithun, age 76, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at UW Hospital. He was born May 25, 1936 in Holt Township, Minnesota, the youngest child of Carl “Benny” and Cora (Johnson) Eithun. Don grew up in the Bush in Madison and would often tell his family stories of life growing up there. Don was a proud, avid bowler and bowled semi-professionally. Don was also very proud that he was a professional poker player. Don was the owner of Eithun Auto Sales, Red Cab & Blue Cab Co. and Evansville Auto Auction. In retirement, he built rental units for small businesses, and owned an outside storage yard for boats, RV’s, and cars. During his life, Don was known to be a helping hand financially and emotionally to people that needed support.

Don is survived by the LOVE of his life, Elaine “Lani” (Perleberg Kennedy) Eithun; his children, Susie (Charles) Eithun, Karen (Kevin) Glass, Scott (Sandra) Eithun, Joel Perrin, Eric (Jamie) Eithun, and Carl (Shannon) Perrin; his step-shildren Don (Rita) Kennedy, Terri Maehern, Sean Kennedy, and Scott (Barbara) Carey; 27 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; loved ones and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl “Benny” and Cora Eithun; brother and sisters, Norris, Bernice, Vivian, Ollie, Fern and Curt; son Donn; and stepson Ryan.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, Madison, with Pastor Bill Mattox and Pastor Greg Watling officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Prairie Mounds Cemetery in Oregon.

  • PHOTOS: Viewers drop off sensitive documents for Shredfest

    The WISC-TV studio parking lot was busy with hundreds of viewers bringing their sensitive documents to be destroyed as part of Shredfest with the Better Business Bureau Saturday morning.

    A combined 1,295 cars dropped off bags of papers at WISC-TV on Raymond Road and SVA Certified Public Accountants firm on John Q. Hammons Drive.

    News 3 and Better Business Bureau team members unloaded bags of documents from viewers' cars and Pellitteri Waste Systems' Data Destruction team put the papers into the shredding trucks.
