MADISON-Christopher “Red” Vogts, age 25, of Madison died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, as the result of a car/bicycle accident in Mississippi. He was born on Feb. 17, 1987, the son of Scott and Loretta Vogts. Chris attended DeForest High School and UW-La Crosse and was a mechanic employed at Budget Bicycle Center. One of his many passions in life was biking, and he died doing what he loved. Chris touched the lives of many people through his quiet kindness and willingness to embrace everyone he met as a friend. He had friends all over the country that he met on his journeys. Chris was remarkable for having the courage to live the life that he wanted, regardless of what stood in his way. He lived and loved fully. He is deeply missed by many, but his spirit and love of life will live on in his family and friends.

Chris is survived by his parents, Scott and Loretta Vogts; sister, Heather (Andy) Dobbins; grandmothers, Donna Vogts and Henrietta Hayes; his lady friend, Ginny Lane; many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; Reggae Wolff; and friends near and far. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, David Vogts and David Hayes.

A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.
