Charles H. Schultz

ARLINGTON- Charles H. “Charlie” Schultz, age 91, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on May 5, 1921, in Leeds, the son of Herbert and Julia (Noltemeyer) Schultz. He married Patricia Halvorson on Feb. 23, 1952. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2010. Charlie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Throughout his career, he worked at Del Monte Canning Company, and later retired from Ohio Medical. Charlie enjoyed bowling, golf, watching his grandchildren in sporting events, and going out for Friday fish fry with his wife, Pat. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Charlie spent many years as an active member of Arlington Curling Club and Arlington Fire Department. He was also a charter member of Arlington Lions Club.

Charlie is survived by his three daughters, Vicki (Bill) Stewart of Lowville, Kathi (Jeff) Robinson of Cottage Grove, and Jacki (Mike) Hamilton of Lodi; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Jacob) Breunig of Prairie du Sac, Steven (fiancé, Kelsey Van Ackeren) Stewart of St. Cloud, Minn., Julie (Andy) Knuteson of Lake Mills, Nick (Katie) Robinson of Lake Mills, Vaughn Robinson (friend, Haseena Zachariah) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jesse Hamilton (friend, Laura Hicks) of Warren, Mich., Josh (Kati) Hamilton of Berkley, Mich., and Jenna Hamilton of Lodi; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Braden Breunig, and Joah and Micah Robinson; sister, Valeria (Robert) Gundlach; brother, Herbert (Gayno) Schultz; and brother-in-law, William Hahn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat; brothers, Wilmer (Arlette) Schultz and Donovan Schultz; and sisters, Evelyn Hahn and Darlene (Harold) Lerch.

Funeral services will be held at ST. PETER’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 303 Park St., Arlington, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, with the Rev. Dr. Marion Hendrickson presiding. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in North Leeds with military honors being conducted. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the care they gave Charlie.

  • PHOTOS: Madison store helps collect hundreds of Teddy bears for police

    MADISON, Wis.--A west Madison store is part of an effort to collect hundreds of stuffed animals to donate to six police departments in Southern Wisconsin.

    Todd Merryfield, owner of The Learning Shop at 714 S. Gammon Road, said the store is collecting the bears for officers who use them to help comfort children with whom police come in contact.

    "This is a great way to support what (police) do," Merryfield said. "Those are the kids that need something like this to reassure them, calm them down, and let them know that things are all right."

    Nearly 500 plush animals were donated Tuesday, a Learning Shop spokeswoman said. The Madison store's effort is part of a larger initiative through the Bears for Humanity organization.
