James Lewicki

James “Jim” Lewicki, 77, died on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. The 44-year resident of Fort Atkinson passed away at his home after losing his battle with lung cancer.

Jim was born on July 7, 1936, in Bay City, Mich. and was the son of late Edward and Genivieve Lewicki. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in education. During that time, he met his wife, Magdalene “Marge” Lewicki, who passed away in 2010. The couple wed on May 11, 1957.

Jim’s professional career included positions as a teacher and coach, real estate agent and sales manager for publishing companies. No matter where he went, he shared his words of wisdom and his historical knowledge. He enjoyed traveling and he has visited almost all 50 states, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

As an active member of the community, Jim served on the police and fire commission, city council, Dwight Foster Library board and Meals on Wheels. He was involved with Knights of Columbus and regularly served as an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Jim is survived by his children, Susan McCann of Oconomowoc, Robert (Mary) Lewicki of Fort Atkinson, James II (Susan) Lewicki of New Berlin and John (Yvonne) Lewicki of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Mandy (Chris) Tukiendorf, Jonathan and Angela Lewicki, Daniel (Kari) Lewicki, David Lewicki, Alyssa, Kristi and Katie McCann, and Paige Lewicki; great grandchildren, Brynley and Aubrey Tukiendorf; brothers Mike (Jackie) Lewicki of Yorkville, Ill., Dave (Jan) Lewicki of Dearborn, Mich.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A funeral mass officiated by Father Brian Wilk will follow beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to, Rainbow Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Rainbow Hospice and Visiting Angels for their care and compassion that was provided to Jim and his family.

The Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
