Sylvia Irene Curry

Sylvia Curry, age 87 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the One Life Assembly of God Church, 1000 11th St. in Baraboo (formerly the Baraboo Assembly of God Church) with Pastor Jon Arneson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M. with fellowship following in the church's lower level. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo.

Sylvia was born July 19, 1925 in Independence, Wisconsin, the second of 13 children born to Edwin and Laura (Kurth) Phillipson. She attended rural Whitehall schools and graduated from Whitehall High School. She later earned two degrees from UW La Crosse and one from North Central Bible School. She taught in rural area schools in Hudson, Sheboygan, South Milwaukee, Waupun and Wisconsin Dells.

On April 6, 1963 she was united in marriage to Ross M. Curry of Wisconsin Dells. To this union there were born children; Ross P. (Kimberly) Curry of Wisconsin Dells and Laureen S. Hunter of Black Creek, WI; five grandchildren, Alex Curry of Sheboygan Falls, Ryan and Ross Tanner Curry of Wisconsin Dells, Tiffany (Josh) DeBruin of Black Creek, and Crystal (Dylan) DeVetter of Appleton, WI and one great grandson, Graeme DeBruin of Black Creek.

Sylvia is survived by four brothers, Lawrence Phillipson of Amery, WI, Howard (Donna) Phillipson of Oak Creek, WI, Conrad (Genny) Phillipson of Whitehall, WI and Dale (Andrea) Phillipson of Pine Island, MN; her sister, Janette (Bill) Marchese of Floral City, FL; brother-in-law, Rev Roger Dissmore of Whitehall, WI and sister-in-law, Phoebe Phillipson of Pigeon Falls, WI as well as many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene, John, Earl and Robert Phillipson and sisters, Phyllis Cornwell, Marie Dissmore and Julie Phillipson.

Sylvia was a life time member of The Assemblies of God, teaching Sunday School doing youth work and serving as youth counselor in Bible Camp, Missionettes and Women's Ministries. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, genealogy, traveling and her family.
