Lavon C. Blabaum, age 85, of Milton, formerly of Dodgeville, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Milton Senior Living Center, following a brief illness.
The former Lavon Heuer was born on July 4, 1927 near Cobb to Elmer and Elza (Plank) Heuer. Lavon married Leland Blabaum of Dodgeville on October 31, 1953 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cobb. The couple co-owned and operated Blabaum and Gutherz Redi-Mix until 1969. Lavon also worked for the Farmer’s Home Administration for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Rhoda Circle. Her pastimes included doing arts and crafts, tending to her flower garden and baking cookies. She and Leland enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 20 years. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer on November 25, 1957 and her mother, Elza on April 22, 1979.
Lavon is survived by her husband, Leland of Milton; her son, Kim (Denise) Blabaum of Edgerton; two grandchildren, Michael (Delaney) Blabaum; and Michelle Blabaum and fiancé, Zach Thurner; a great grandson, Ian Blabaum; a brother-in-law, Beauford (Millie) Blabaum of Dodgeville; two cousins, Art (Sondra) Heuer and Fama Rule as well as nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Pastor Steven R. Kottke will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 9:30 A.M. Memorials to The American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
