Published On: Sep 24 2013 11:24:26 AM CDT

Verona-Ethelyn M. Berens, age 96, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

She was born on April 30, 1917 to Thomas and Rose McAndrew. She married George Berens on April 29, 1939; he preceded her in death in 1993.

Ethel was a 30 year Sears employee and she and George traveled extensively after they both retired. Ethels’ son and daughter are grateful to have had their mother in their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren. Ethel was both a friend and mentor to her entire family, whom all loved her deeply.

She is survived by her children Joan (Larry) Pedracine of Verona and Dick (Lois) Berens of Wisconsin Dells; her five grandchildren: Mike (Carmen) Pedracine, Kris (Jim) Pitman, Jay (Lisa) Pedracine, Vicky (Shane) Holden, and Jeff (Robin) Berens; eleven great-grandchildren: Tyler and Brandon Pedracine, Colin and Haley Pitman, Max, Brooke, Seth and Brett Holden, Ethan, Mason, and Grace Berens; she is further survived by her brother Harry McAndrew. Ethel was pre-deceased by five of her siblings.

Our special thanks to the staff of Four Winds Lodge/Manor and Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care they gave our mother in the final months of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Winds Lodge and Agrace HospiceCare.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 Highway BB, near Cottage Grove.

So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.
