William Nelson Hudson

Madison– William Nelson Hudson, Jr. , age 64, departed this life on March 23, 2013. He was born on September 29, 1948 in Columbus, Mississippi to William Nelson Hudson, Sr. and Ida Mae (Stokes) Hudson. Both have preceded him in death. He was the eldest of their three children. The Hudson family departed Mississippi in 1956 and relocated to Gary, Indiana, which became their new home. He attended Roosevelt High School in Indiana and graduated in 1965. William was a very independent and hardworking man all of his life. He worked for LTV Steele Corporation, as well as Blow Knoxx, Inc. as a head assembly line technician for more than ten years.

He came to Madison in 1987 to make a better life for himself. He continued his career as a chef for the Maple Bluff Country Club for five years. He openly expressed how much he enjoyed this kind of employment. He then worked at Rowley Schlimgen as an assembler/driver for over fifteen years.

William was an amazing man who was willing to give his last, believed in Jesus Christ and accepted him as his Lord and Savior. He truly loved his family and friends unconditionally and always made himself available to anyone in need.

William leaves to mourn his four children, daughter Alisa R. (Robert) Hudson-Crawford of Gary, IN, and three sons William “Teddy Mice” Jones of Minnesota, Anthony Tyrone (Katherine) Hudson of Indianapolis, Indiana, and William “Wicky” Nelson Hudson-McKinnie of Madison; one sister Faye Jewel (Robert) Hudson-Adams of Sun Prairie; one brother Terry Lee (Juanita) Hudson of Crown Point, IN; six grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece, as well as a host of cousins, friends and one special aunt Emma Lee Stokes who is 90 years old and still living in Columbus, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Terry Lee Hudson, Jr.

Services will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, at 1:00PM on Friday, April 5, 2013, with Reverend Thomas Flint presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from NOON until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.   • PHOTOS: Madison store helps collect hundreds of Teddy bears for police

    MADISON, Wis.--A west Madison store is part of an effort to collect hundreds of stuffed animals to donate to six police departments in Southern Wisconsin.

    Todd Merryfield, owner of The Learning Shop at 714 S. Gammon Road, said the store is collecting the bears for officers who use them to help comfort children with whom police come in contact.

    "This is a great way to support what (police) do," Merryfield said. "Those are the kids that need something like this to reassure them, calm them down, and let them know that things are all right."

    Nearly 500 plush animals were donated Tuesday, a Learning Shop spokeswoman said. The Madison store's effort is part of a larger initiative through the Bears for Humanity organization.
