The notoriously technology-shy Warren Buffett finally joined Twitter today.

The billionaire philanthropist's first tweet, "Warren is in the house," was sent via his new account, @WarrenBuffett.

Within just 45 minutes, the 82-year-old Buffett picked up more than 45,000 followers. After 5 hours, he already had 174,633 followers. A few hours after his first tweet, he also tweeted about his "new essay on why women are key to America’s prosperity."

His initial tweet was quickly retweeted 25,399 times.
