MADISON, Wis. -

A special election for the state Assembly seat held by Republican Scott Suder will be held Nov. 19.

Gov. Scott Walker announced the date of the election on Wednesday.

The 69th Assembly District covers central Wisconsin east of Eau Claire.

Potential candidates can begin circulating nomination papers on Wednesday. They are due on Sept. 24.

If more than one candidate files for the seat, there will be a primary on Oct. 22.
Suder officially retired from the Assembly on Tuesday to take a job with the Public Service Commission.

Rep. Mark Honadel, a Republican from South Milwaukee, announced last week that he was also leaving the Assembly later this month. Walker said he will call a special election for that seat after Honadel officially resigns.
