ORFORDVILLE, Wis. -

Two men were injured when their car overturned several times in a road in rural Rock County.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to South County Road K near South State Highway 213 at 9 p.m. Thursday for a for report of a crash.

Investigators said a 1994 Dodge Spirit driven by a 39-year-old Brodhead man was traveling south of County Road K when he lost control while cresting a hill. The car crossed the northbound lane, entered the east ditch and collided with a drainage culvert before overturning several times and coming to rest in the middle of the road.

A 25-year-old Orfordville man was a passenger in the car and was ejected during the crash. He was found injured several yards away from the crash. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville and is in serious condition. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to deputies.

The driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies said speed appears to be a factor in the crash. The driver was cited on suspicion of going too fast for conditions, operating a vehicle while suspended, non-registration of a vehicle and operating a vehicle without insurance. Additional charges are possible.

County Road K was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The Orfordville Police Department and Orfordville Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
