MADISON, Wis. -

A decision by the Supreme Court puts the legality of a recently enacted Madison ordinance in question.

The unanimous ruling by the justices strikes down a Massachusetts law requiring a 35-foot protest-free zone outside abortion clinics.

The court ruled the law violates protesters’ free speech rights.

Madison Alder Lisa Subeck supported Madison’s ordinance limiting protestors to a 100-foot radius outside certain areas, like abortion clinics, and now she’s not sure what happens next with the rule.

“We do not know what if any, impact this will have on Madison’s ordinance, and we won’t know that until we have time to thoroughly review that ruling,” Subeck said.

Pro-Life Wisconsin called the court’s decision a victory.
