MADISON, Wis. -

Police said a Madison man carrying burglar tools was arrested after a security guard chased him into the Madison College parking lot.

The Madison Police Department said Darrius D. Jackson, 22, was spotted in the men's locker room at Madison College trying to cut locks off lockers. Recently, phones, wallets and other items had been stolen at the school in similar break-ins.

According to the report, when security staff tried to talk to the bolt-cutter-carrying suspect, Jackson took off running: first outside of the school, then through the science lab, then back outside and into a parking lot. Jackson jumped into a car and locked the doors. When Jackson realized the security team was about to get into the vehicle through its trunk, he got out of the car and was quickly taken to the ground.

Madison police arrived and arrested Jackson on suspicion of attempting to commit theft, possession of "burglarious" tools, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
