A proposed interchange just off Interstate 39/90 is getting a closer look in Milton Thursday night.
The interchange would be put near Highway M, and could potentially transform 1,500 acres of farmland into an industrial park.
However, the city would have to annex the land from a developer.
Jerry Schuetz, Milton’s city administrator, said Rock County has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state and the new interchange would create opportunities for adding jobs in the area.
“The opportunity for development that would create between 1,000 and 3,000 jobs is something that we really feel we have to take a look at,” Schuetz said.
Officials will hear public comment about the project Thursday night, but will not take any action on the plans.
