Published On: Oct 14 2013 03:07:20 PM CDT

MADISON, Wis. -

A 22-year-old woman was choked to unconsciousness by a man she knows who had kicked in her apartment door and also hurled her laptop against a desk Saturday night, officials said.

The woman told police Alexander P. Koprowski, 26, of Green Bay choked her after he kicked in the door to her Langdon Street apartment around 11:15 p.m.

Koprowski threatened to kill her, threw her to the ground and "smashed" her head into the floor a couple of times, police said. He also hurled her laptop against a desk, which ruined it.

Officers found Koprowski at a North Carroll Street parking ramp and arrested him on charges of impeding breathing by putting pressure on someone’s throat or neck, false imprisonment, battery and criminal damage to property.

The woman was taken to a hospital, as a precaution, for neck injuries, officials said.
