MADISON, Wis. -

Police said men in an SUV drove off from a gas station in Madison with a woman's purse.

The Madison Police Department said a 37-year-old woman was at the Mobil gas station Monday at 8:53 p.m. when she accepted a ride with two men she met at the pump.

Police said the man driving the tan-colored SUV told the victim she could toss her purse in the vehicle through an open rear-seat window before getting in. Once the purse was in the SUV, the men drove off

One of the men in the SUV was described as black with a light complexion, in his 20s or 30s, tall, with medium build, according to the report. His hair was worn in long dreadlocks pulled back in a ponytail and he was wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt.

The other man was described as black, with a dark complexion in his late 20s, tall, with a slender build, the report said. He had short hair and was wearing a bright-colored hooded sweatshirt.

The victim told police the SUV had Illinois plates.

The Mobile station is at 4601 Verona Road.
