McDonald's tells workers how to budget

McDonald's tries to show employees how to budget -- and, some say, fails miserably.

A new website by Visa and the fast-food giant was meant to help low-wage workers better manage their hard-earned money, offering advice on everything from tracking spending to setting financial goals.

But critics say there are a number of flaws.

First of all, the sample budget offered by the site includes $0 for heating bills and even suggests getting a second job, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Rental costs? The McDonald's budget sets aside about $600 a month.

Low Pay is Not OK, a U.S. workers' rights group, called the budget advice "unbelievable."

A video making fun of the site called "McBudgeting" said workers would have to make $15 an hour before taxes to make the sample budget work.

Most workers at McDonald's and other fast-food chains make $7.25 an hour -- the federal minimum wage.
