Investigators are focused on trying to identify a woman whose body was found in a cornfield Saturday in Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office said it’s not known how long the woman’s body was in the field before it was found on Saturday in the area of North Road in the town of Ixonia.

An autopsy has been performed and DNA will be used to try to identify the woman.

The woman is described as probably white, less than 50 years old, 4 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, more than 127 pounds, with dark hair, a tattoo on the right lower abdomen area, a tattoo on the underside of her right wrist and a facial stud piercing on the left side of her lower lip.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner and the Wisconsin State Crime Lab is involved in the investigation.
