A Lake Geneva man led officers on a 100 mph chase before officers used a maneuver to end the pursuit on Sunday, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to a report of a domestic violence incident at 3:23 p.m. in the town of Geneva and were told Christopher L. Mangold, 40, was intoxicated and left in his car before officers arrived.
Mangold’s car was spotted at 3:39 p.m. in Lake Geneva, where a pursuit began when the car refused to pull over and sped away, deputies said.
Lake Geneva police, town of Geneva police, town of Delavan police and Elkhorn police were all involved in the chase at various points.
Deputies said two sets of stop sticks were used and deflated one of the car’s tires, but did not stop the pursuit.
Deputies used a maneuver on northbound Interstate 43 and County Road NN in Elkhorn to make contact with the car, which struck a guardrail and ended the chase.
Mangold was arrested on suspicion of felony fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering safety and third-offense operating while intoxicated. Other charges from different jurisdictions might be forthcoming.
