Crews spent much of the day working to get the utility poles on Highway 19 upright after strong winds toppled them Tuesday night.

MADISON, Wis. -

A portion of Highway 19 in Sun Prairie that was closed overnight after high winds blasted the area has reopened Wednesday evening.

Just before 7 p.m. Friday, Sun Prairie Police Sgt. Ryan Cox said in a news release that the portion of Highway 19 where several utility poles were damaged is back open to traffic.

About 100 Madison Gas & Electric customers near Highway V on the south side of Lodi and 30 customers near Warner Park lost power early in the evening. Officials said crews were working on returning power to the area within a couple of hours.

About 1595 Alliant Energy customers lost power Tuesday night in the towns of Windsor, Sun Prairie and surrounding areas as a tree came down on a power line along Highway 19. Crews were also working to return power to the area.

The westbound lanes of Highway 19 between North Thompson Road and Charlottes Way were closed while crews repaired damaged utility poles. During the closure, traffic on County Road C couldn't pass through the intersection of Highway 19.

As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Alliant was reporting just 58 customers without power in Dane County. MG&E had power restored to all but one customer.
